HARBOR LATIN BIG BAND
22-piece Latin Big Band celebrating the music of the Palladium era.

The Harbor Latin Big Band, directed by Louie Bauzo, preserves the New York sound and style of the golden age of Latin music and pays tribute to the musical pioneers … Frank "Machito" Grillo, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Eddie Palmieri, Johnny Pacheco, Ray Barretto, Larry Harlow and others. Harbor Latin Big Band performances have included Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Aaron Davis Hall, Hostos Center for Arts and Culture, The Copa and Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing. They have performed with Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco, Alfredo "Chocolate" Armenteros, and others.

HARBOR SALSEROS DEL BARRIO
Classic Salsa

The Harbor Salseros del Barrio under the direction of Maestro Ramon Rodriguez, is comprised of the Conservatory's most advanced adult music students.  Dedicated to the preservation and performance of the classics of "Salsa", the band features music by Johnny Pacheco, Ray Barretto, Larry Harlow, Bobby Valentin, Willie Rosario, Sonora Pocena, El Gran Combo and others.

HARBOR LATIN YOUTH ENSEMBLE
The Future of Latin Music
(1) 50 Minute Performance $500

The Harbor Latin Youth Ensembles I, II, III, directed by Harbor Conservatory Director Ramon Rodriguez and musicians Pablo Mayor and Gustavo Schartz, are made up of  the most advanced students ages 12-19. These young musicians study a variety of musical forms such as danzon, son and mambo, and learn while playing classic music made popular by artists such as Mongo Santamaria, Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco and others. The Harbor Latin Youth Ensemble has performed at the Americas Society, Museum Mile Festival, Latin Roots East Harlem at El Museo del Barrio, and recently opened for the great Eddie Palmieri.

Afro-Puerto Rican Folkloric Music and Dance Ensemble
(1)  50 minute performance…. $1,200

Carambu performs the vibrant, African-influenced Bomba and Plena of Puerto Rico.  These traditional forms of music and dance developed in the coastal regions of the island where sugar cane workers performed them during festivals and religious celebrations.  Louis Bauzo and Carambu create an authentic expression of Afro-Puerto Rican culture.
