| Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts THE LITTLE PEOPLE’S CREATIVE ARTS PROGRAM Children will explore their world through music, dance and theater. Classes nurture curiosity, promote creativity and introduce basic music, dance and theater skills. Day: Saturday Semester: Fall/Winter/Spring Level: Absolute Beginner LITTLE MOVEMENT EXPLORERS Children will further develop their motor skills by exploring movement that is based on traditional dance elements. Children sing songs, listen to fairy tales and stories that inspire their own imaginative dances. Age: 4 Day: Saturday Semester: Both YOUNG MOVERS & SHAKERS Children participate in simple warm-ups designed to increase flexibility, explore coordination and develop memory recall. Children learn basic short movement phrases which promote body awareness and challenge motor skill development. Age: 5 Day: Saturday Semester: Both ME & MY INSTRUMENT This class teaches basic music-making. Based on the methodology of composer Carl Orff, children learn to listen and respond to the music by moving feet, hands, arms and the whole body. Children also explore the use of their voices as instruments as they sing songs that reinforce rhythm, time, syncopation and more. Small percussive instruments also help define these musical concepts and encourage a sense of fun. Age: 4 & 5 Day: Saturday Semester: Both THEATRE EXPOSURE Physical and vocal expression take flight! Imaginations come to life! Students are introduced to the world of Theatre via an array of fun theatre exercises. Basic vocabulary, breathing, projecting, entrances, exits and creating characters are guaranteed to focus the active child and build confidence in the shy one. Ages 4 & 5.
