Dance at Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts
THE LEAP PROGRAM

A partial tuition scholarship opportunity for dance students ages 11 to 13, who are focused on gaining acceptance to specialized high school dance programs.

The LEAP Dance program provides a comprehensive curriculum that develops a solid technical foundation in Ballet while offering students a diverse movement experience in the styles of Modern, and Jazz or African dance.

All classes are skill based and address the development of TECHNIQUE: ALIGNMENT of the spine, PLACEMENT of the arms and legs, proper TURN OUT from the hips, and a competent demonstration of MOVEMENT VOCABULARY.

Students are accepted into the program via audition, and are required to have at least three years of previous dance training. Once accepted, students will receive:

• 4 hours weekly dance training in Ballet and Modern
• 1 hour weekly training in Jazz or African
• Audition preparation through practise auditions
• Quarterly progress evaluations from instructors
• Counseling sessions designed to help students concentrate on specific areas of their individual technical development
