Dance at Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts
DANCE EXPOSURE PROGRAM

The Dance Exposure Program offers the perfect dance introduction for beginners to learn fundamental dance vocabulary through the styles of ballet, modern and jazz. Classes in basic tap, hip hop, latin dance in addition to music appreciation and a percussion class round out this diverse movement experience.

Dance Exposure I,  & II
A two-year program, this class exposes students to the elements of ballet, modern and jazz while teaching the ABC's of dance.
Age: 6 - 8; 9 - 11
Day: Saturday
Three 9 week sessions throughout the year for two years

Music Exposure
A music appreciation class for 6 and 7 year olds. The introduction of the basics of reading music,  rhythmical patterns, elements of solfeo, melody and scales enhances children's listening skills, and lays a foundation for future study in dance and music.
Age: 6 - 8
Saturday

Percussion
This group class encourages students to explore and play various percussion instruments. Playing congas, shakers, claves, and cowbells introduces basic counting, and rhythms, engages listening skills, and nurtures the importance of ensemble work.
Age: 8 -10
Saturday

Teen Dance
Teens with little or no experience gain strength, and stretch while developing basic dance vocabulary and technique. Class begins with traditional ballet barre exercises that prepares the body for more contemporary modern, jazz and broadway dance styles.
Age: 12 & older
Saturday

Latin Dance
Mambo, Cha Cha,  Salsa, Merengue are just some of the dances that  will be taught in this class. Students ages 12 and older will enjoy learning footwork, and partnering in this fun filled dance class.
Age: 10-12
Saturday

Funky Hip Hop I, II & Teen Hip Hop
Children will experience familiar movement with a fresh,  bold theatrical flavor as they move to contemporary sounds of today's R & B, and Pop. These age appropriate classes for the children ages 8 & 9, 10, 11, & 12 and teens are ideal for those with or without experience.

Studios are appropriate for classes, workshops, rehearsals and auditions equipped with pianos and mirrors, changing rooms and equity approved dance floors.
